Perspective — Growth

Growth constraints are usually commercial

When a business stops growing, the cause is rarely effort. It is usually the model, the market or the route.

Flat growth tends to be diagnosed as a sales problem and treated with more activity. More often the constraint sits earlier: an unclear proposition, a saturated segment, or a channel that cannot carry the volume.

Finding the actual constraint takes a short, structured commercial review rather than a large programme.

Once it is named, the intervention is usually smaller and faster than expected.
