Perspective — Commercialisation

From capability to proposition

Commercialisation is the work of turning what a business can do into something a specific buyer will pay for.

Capability statements describe the seller. Propositions describe the buyer's problem, the outcome, the price and the reason to act now.

The translation between the two is where most technical businesses lose momentum.

It is rarely a marketing exercise. It is a commercial one, and it usually requires narrowing before it allows scaling.
